KAZAM APP FILTER
To enhance the Kazam app's filtering system by introducing a "My Vehicle" filter that allows users to select their vehicle and dynamically display compatible connector types. This feature ensures a more personalized and efficient user experience, reducing search time and improving compatibility with EV chargers.

1
Lack of Personalization
Users struggle to identify compatible chargers because the current filter system does not account for vehicle-specific compatibility.
2
Inefficient Experience
This causes frustration, inefficiency, and potential drop-offs in app usage.
3
Competitors
Competitors are offering advanced filters that cater to user needs such as charger type, availability, and amenities.
PROBLEMS
COMPETITOR
INTERVIWES WITH EV FLEET DRIVERS AND CAR DRIVERS
Want to view only the connectors compatible with my vehicle so that I can easily find suitable charging options.
Filter option increased my search time and left me frustrated by showing all connectors

“
“

Before

Shows all plug types without considering the user’s vehicle.
Too many connector options in one block, no grouping (2/3 wheeler vs 4 wheeler).
Users spend extra time cross-checking which plug fits their vehicle.
Filters such as charger availability or network are missing.

Option to add your vehicle
Show all the available filter option at the one screen
Segregation the plug type according to vehicle type
Show the count of charger available for selected plug type
After

1
Designing a smooth way for users to add/select their vehicle so that connectors update dynamically.
2
Some users own more than one EV
3
Show all the available filter options on one screen

Research & Synthesis
Used for synthesis
Saved: 3–4 hrs

ChatGPT / Perplexity AI
Pasted raw interview Recording from EV drivers and asked AI to group recurring pain points. Reduced hours of manual affinity mapping into minutes.
Used for benchmarking
Saved: 2–3 hrs

Perplexity AI
Competitor Research
Researched competitor EV apps like PlugShare and Tata EZ Charge in minutes. AI surfaced filter patterns I would have missed in manual browsing.
Used for layout direction
Saved: 3–4 hrs

Lovable
Research & Synthesis
Generated 3–4 rough layout directions for the filter screen. Used as a starting point for iteration in Figma, not the final design.

Search time will reduce
User confidence in finding the right charger will increase.
Personalization will improve retention.
1
What did I learn?
The importance of personalization in reducing friction and improving user trust.
How information hierarchy and grouping (2/3 Wheeler vs 4 Wheeler) simplify decision-making.
2
What impact did the design bring?
Reduced charger search time.
Improved personalization → higher user trust.
Streamlined filter experience → less drop-off.
Helped Kazam stay competitive with advanced EV apps.
